Merial Product Launch – Broadline, Nexgard and Pimms!
Big thanks to Merial who took the time to come and introduce two of their new products to us. We were given a very informative talk on Broadline and Nexgard whilst enjoying some Pimms put on by the lovely team at Merial (the rain did nothing to dampen our summery vibe!) Merial were also kind enough to provide us with tonnes of fabulous freebies, a must for any student event really! . After that, we carried on drinking Pimms while people chatted and had the chance to ask questions about the product and parasites in general. Then we played a very close game of rounders, taking advantage of the sun, which was won in the end by team Broadline, with Pimms in between innings. The event was very well attended by people from many years, and was both fun and informative.
Thanks Merial, you guys are awesome!

Vet Freshers’ Week 2013
This year’s vet freshers’ week opened in spectacular fashion with the annual CUVS pub crawl, which saw members of all years take to the streets of Cambridge in their best animal costumes to sample some of finest pubs and bars the city has to offer before ending the night in ‘Cindies’.
On Wednesday afternoon, our sports reps Sam and Sid held their Freshers’ Sports day on Jesus Green, featuring all manner of games, from lacrosse to welly wanging, before heading up to the Vet School in convoy for a joint CUVS and CUZVS talk entitled ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’. The talk involved short 10 minute presentations from a number of Cambridge Vet School students about their experiences completing EMS overseas, and served as fantastic guidance to those students considering placements abroad.
Then came the finale; The Cherry Party. The sold out Back-To-School themed event was this year held at Hidden Rooms on Jesus Lane, and was a night not to be missed.
Special mentions must go to our two ents reps Max and Kate for all their hard work in organising and pulling off an excellent cherry party, and to our pastoral reps Becky and Chris for making the pub crawl and the rest of Vet Freshers’ Week a reality. Here’s to next year!
CUVS BBQ 2013 – as it happened…
The afternoon of Friday 14th J
une 2013. The sun was shining, everyone’s exams were over, there was only one thing for it really – BBQ!
The event was very well attended and everyone had a fantastic afternoon of burgers, pimms and games. Looks like the hard work the committee put in to organising it paid off! A special mention must go to our Ents reps Max and Kate for making the event happen.
Here are a few pictures taken during the afternoon. Enjoy & see you in Freshers’ Week!
It wouldn’t be a CUVS event without Pimms…
Over 200 bread rolls sliced and ready while the BBQ heats up
The committee taking a well-deserved break after setting up
Max and Kate were suitably excited for their first event as Ents Reps to get underway
Welly wanging…
…Apple bobbing…
…And Egg Catching were just some of the games played.
Some, like Ali, fell victim to the eggs
While in the meantime Chris and Josh looked after the all important BBQ
2nd Year Pimms!
Following their final exam, the CUVS committee escorted the 2nd years over to the Mill Pond field where there were countless jugs of Pimms waiting for them. What better way to shake off those exam blues and mark the start of two weeks of freedom before May Week?
